CD Projekt Red released the Edgerunners 2 Update, Patch 2.5, for Cyberpunk 2077 on 22 October, two days after the second season of the anime arrived on Netflix. It is free on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac App Store versions following “in the days to follow”. On our PS5 Pro the console listed it as a 10.5 GB Base Game Update and a 2.3 GB Expansion Update for Phantom Liberty, and the main menu reads version 2.5. Everything below is from CDPR’s own patch post unless it says we checked it, which we did on the Pro on 26 and 27 October.
Two new side quests, one set before Edgerunners 2
Clampdown is set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. It unlocks after The Heist and two gigs for Wakako Okada, the Westbrook fixer, who then sends a message. Completing it earns the King gear set, five pieces based on the character. Our save had done one Wakako gig before the update and nothing arrived; her message came through after the second gig on 27 October, and sends you to meet a merc called King at Buryger in Santo Domingo. A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from the series.
Welcome to Paradise! is a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night, with what CDPR calls a mystery to uncover. It unlocks after The Heist at Street Cred 15. CDPR has not said how it starts, where the tour stops or what the mystery is, and no quest marker had appeared on our save in the first session.
Twelve Minor Arcana Tarot cards are hidden across the city. The Tarot menu now separates Major and Minor Arcana, scanning a new card extends the Fool on the Hill side quest, and collecting all twelve earns a reward CDPR has not described.
Double Trouble needs Cool 9 and carries four perks
Double Trouble, in the Cool tree, lets V hold two Power pistols or revolvers at once. On our save it sits at Cool 9, with four perks beneath it. Keep ‘Em Coming adds 40 stamina while dual-wielding and 20 more per stack of Triple Tequila. Triple Tequila gives a 10% mitigation chance for 15 seconds after neutralising an enemy, stacking three times; Heywood Hurricane consumes the stacks for 15% damage each. Two Right Hands cuts stamina cost by 25% while dual-wielding and recoil and spread by 20% when aiming. Splash of Love adds 50% fire rate to Heywood Hurricane and one second of duration at full Triple Tequila stacks. Photo Mode gets dual-wielding poses alongside Trading Card Game frames.
Console mods: 46 on PS5 at launch, two sign-ins to reach them
The in-game menu now browses and installs player-made mods on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, through mod.io, with more to be added over time. The Mods tab is the fifth on the main menu. Opening it asks you to accept mod.io’s terms of use and privacy policy, sign in to a CD Projekt Red account and authorise it through your PlayStation account; once through, both account names show at the bottom right. On 26 October the PS5 list held 46 mods, about four of them quests. CDPR says modded saves carry an icon and cannot earn trophies or achievements on console. Installing a mod gave us no warning first. Afterwards a small trophy split down the middle appears on Continue and New Game in the main menu and on the saves made since the mod went in, and loading from the main menu brings up a mod verification warning that the game might behave unexpectedly. Saves from before the mod do not carry the icon.
One Glamdoc per district, 7,000 to 50,000 eddies a skin
Five clothing sets reach vendors: Maxiwear in Heywood, Arroyo and Little China; Jinguji in City Center; NetWatch in Kabuki and Japantown; IconAmerica in Pacifica, the Badlands and Northside; and a fifth CDPR says arrives “a little later”. The NUS Infiltrator set is sold in Kabuki and Japantown, from 842 eddies a piece in Kabuki. Some hairstyles that were NPC-only are now V’s, some limited by body type. A message from Ariadne promoting clothes and haircuts arrived the moment we loaded in. Four TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech come through Twitch Drops.
Glamdocs, marked with a spray-paint icon, sell skins and colours for Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, the Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. There is one in each district, each with its own intro scene. We visited four. In Pacifica, Zèna Delicè, who is Voodoo Boys, sells Gorilla Arms skins at tier one for 12,000 eddies and tier three for 20,000; her scene has her asking you to buy more because her boyfriend needs cash. In Santo Domingo, Spite Vondell, a former Wraith now with 6th Street, was arguing with her sister Dove when we walked in; her tier-one styles are 7,000. In Westbrook, Shò Gun Rose, a Mox, is spraying his shop wall; tier two is 10,000. In City Center, Serena Zhao, listed with no affiliation, greets you with two Kang Tao robots aiming at the door; she sells the tier-five arms, one Jinguji and one Kang Tao, and tier-five skins for the blades, the launcher and the Monowire, each at 50,000.
On the PS5 Pro: a 70 to 100 field of view, graphics modes unchanged
Consoles get a field-of-view slider; on the Pro it runs from 70 to 100 and defaults to 80. The graphics modes are unchanged from the April Pro patch covered in our PS5 Pro review, resolution scaling still offers PSSR and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1, and the HDR toggle remains under video settings. CDPR lists performance optimisations, including ray tracing and PS5 Pro improvements, and more accurate HDR, and fixes the PS5 bug where HDR settings had no effect; the Pro improvements do not show as a new mode or setting, and CDPR has not said what they change. Saves are now grouped by playthrough in the Load Game menu, and stashes get item filters.
On PC, DLSS 4.5 adds up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, FSR 3 upscaling is removed while FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation stay, FSR Anti-Lag 2 gets a toggle, and Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors get glasses-free 3D with a Motion Comfort setting.
A 27 October hotfix for Argentine saves, and the open bug reports
CDPR pushed a second download on 27 October, hotfix 2.500.200. According to CDPR, as reported by MP1st, it fixes an issue players in Argentina had accessing their saved game data, downloads in every region, and changes nothing else. On our PS5 Pro it was about 1 GB, and the main menu still reads 2.5 afterwards. On 22 October CDPR’s support account on X said Update 2.5 on GOG “may cause the full game data to be re-installed instead of only applying the patch data”. MP1st has also compiled player reports of crashes, PC launch failures and missing quest markers since 2.5; those are community reports, not confirmed by CDPR, and we have not reproduced them on our Pro.
HKGN 102.0 FM and the Edgerunners 2 albums
The first three tracks the new station played for us showed as Altereal, High Forever; Slide, Rising Panic; and Kwazol PZN x Patol, Run to the Edge. Those are in-world names. On the two albums Milan Records released on 20 October, High Forever is by Petite Meller and Rising Panic is from Tsuneo Imahori’s score; Run to the Edge is on neither tracklist.
The series itself, ten standalone episodes made by Studio Trigger with CD Projekt Red, premiered on Netflix on 20 October, per CDPR’s press release of 21 August.
