Shooting: “ghost contests” fixed so a defender has to be squarely in front of the shooter to hurt the shot, open shots from quality shooters more effective, a mid-range boost in competitive modes, three-point percentages slightly rebalanced, fewer missed dunks with Dunk Timing off. Steal animations now match the stealer’s rating, anklebreakers need a hard deceleration or quick launch, and CPU defence starts looser and tightens once you score. MyCAREER Eras saves now run across eras for a 25-year career. Crew Divisions pay 25% more REP and 2X CXP. PC gets Advanced Shader Delivery; Switch 2 gets a touch-screen image tool. Contested shots are less effective and wide-open looks slightly more; standing dunks succeed more often against average and below-average interior defenders; the Rise Up badge does more at Gold and above; lower-rated defenders no longer get on-ball steals more reliably than elite ones; and a game-speed issue is fixed. 2K’s Season 2 Courtside Report of 14 October says the 2.0 update “releases on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC shortly before the start of Season 2 on October 16”. New this season: GOAT Builds, recreations of NBA stars that break the MyPLAYER Builder’s attribute and height caps, eight available at once (Penny Hardaway, Gilbert Arenas, Klay Thompson, Carmelo Anthony, Andrei Kirilenko, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard), three on the rewards track (Magic Johnson at Level 26, Dirk Nowitzki at 33, Kobe Bryant at 37) and more through REP and Lifetime Challenges; Sunset Beach returns from NBA 2K17; Level 40 pays a +1 Cap Breaker, with four Synergy Badge Slots, two Bonus Badge Tokens and two Bonus Badge Slots on the way up; MyTEAM’s Premier Exchange card is Pixel Cut Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, with Diamond Jason Kidd at Level 1 and Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns at Level 40; a one-week Amex Theater takeover from 16 October (US players only); and digital Xbox purchases now include the Windows PC copy, and the reverse.
