NBA 2K27 Badges
All 53 badges and how the 2K27 badge system works, from 2K’s own pages, with the tier thresholds and Takeover unlocks compiled and checked on 2 September 2026.
NBA 2K27 carries 53 badges, up from 40, with 19 brand new. That much is 2K’s own pre-reveal roadmap. The badge list and the systems around it (tokens, slots, Synergy, Loadouts, Rebirth, Cap Breakers, Takeover) are taken from 2K’s own MyPLAYER Builder page and Season 1 Courtside Report, read on 2 September 2026. The attribute and height thresholds per tier are not published by 2K. The table below was compiled from published community datasets, cross-checked against 2K’s pages and edited by us on 2 September 2026; a Builder screenshot pass to confirm every row follows, and changes will be dated.
Thresholds move when patches move them. When they do, the row changes, the date changes, and the change is noted, the same discipline as our seasons tracker. Badges are build unlocks tied to attributes; MyCAREER’s activation buffs are a separate system with their own page.

How badges work in 2K27
New systems, all first-partyBadges are equipped with tokens, and the token cost of the same badge changes with your height and physicals, shown in real time in the Builder. Tokens can be reassigned at any time; tokens earned through in-game events stay locked to their discipline, while Bonus Slots and Tokens from Build Specialisation, Seasons and Crew rewards can be moved between disciplines. Verified 18 August 2026, re-read 2 September 2026.
Every build starts with 20 badge slots across Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defence, Rebounding and the new Physicals discipline, all open the moment you enter The City. Progression runs on six discipline meters, not per-badge grinds, and Team Practice drills and Gatorade workouts feed the meters too.
2K’s Builder page states it plainly: Legend badges cannot be obtained at build creation. A badge reaches Legend when a Synergy slot pushes it past Hall of Fame. 16 Synergy slots, twelve at +1 and four at +2, split into Fuse badges (a permanent boost for the whole game, and the badge costs no tokens while fused) and Reaction badges (paired with a Fuse badge, they take the same boost once the Fuse badge has fired a set number of times). Season-earned Synergy expires with the Season; Specialisation, Crew and REP Synergy is permanent across the account. Build Specialisation slots are locked to their discipline; every other slot moves freely. Verified 2 September 2026.
One Badge Loadout by default and up to three more through REP, Challenges and Crews, swappable before tip-off; 40 Signature Blueprint templates at launch, each blending three NBA and WNBA player comparisons, with more each Season; Rebirth returns with four tiers, unlocked once a build reaches 90 OVR, and now unlocks a share of your default tokens from day one, more at higher Rebirth levels.
Once a build hits 99 OVR in the Builder, the Cap Breaker preview shows the boost each attribute would receive before you commit. It sits in the new Builder Glossary with badge, animation and Takeover detail. Cap Breakers are earned through Build Specialisation quests and Season rewards (Season 1 pays one at Level 40).
Five default Takeover slots with standard attribute boosts, 19 unlockable Takeover Abilities across the five on-court disciplines, plus Hydration Hero, which fits any slot and stops Adrenaline and Stamina drain while active. 21 progression rewards along the way and 15 Takeover Perks, one per discipline, in three types: Accelerator (faster meter), Longevity (longer active window) and Overdrive (bigger boosts).
The free Season 1 ladder pays a Bonus Badge Token at Level 15, a Bonus Badge Slot at Level 18, a Synergy Badge Slot at Level 30 and a Cap Breaker at Level 40; across the full climb 2K states up to four Badge Slots, four Badge Tokens and four Synergy Badge Slots. The paid Pro Pass carries a Hall of Fame Smooth Operator Badge Card among its automatic rewards. Season 1 Courtside Report, read 2 September 2026. Season dates on the seasons tracker.
A franchise first: female builds on exactly the same attribute framework, with performance set by the build rather than appearance, in a co-ed City. The full Builder also runs in the NBA 2K HQ app, from 21 August.
Takeover abilities and what unlocks them
24 abilities, 2K’s descriptions, thresholds compiled 2 September 2026Takeover is no longer one bar. Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defence and Rebounding each run their own meter through six states (Frozen, Cold, Neutral, Warm, Hot, Takeover), rising and falling with how you actually play, and dropping below Neutral costs you ratings in that discipline. You equip one ability per discipline; each discipline’s default ability is always available and the 19 specialist abilities unlock at the ratings below. When a meter fills, the ability fires on its own with an on-screen timer, and more than one can be active at once.

Tier thresholds, Bronze to Hall of Fame
Compiled and checked by PlayTheory, 2 September 2026The attribute a badge reads, and the rating it needs at each tier. Where a badge lists two attributes, AND means both must be met and OR means either one will do; the two lines in a row belong to the two attributes in order. Height is the range of builds that can equip the badge at all. Legend has no row because it is not reached through an attribute; see Legend below.

Compiled from published community datasets, cross-checked against 2K’s Builder page and edited by PlayTheory on 2 September 2026, then re-checked row by row against five published datasets the same day; Smooth Operator’s height cap corrected to 6’11, the majority reading. Token costs per badge are not yet listed; they vary by build and will be read from the Builder. A Builder screenshot pass to confirm every row is in progress, and any change will be dated here.
There is no Legend column to fill from the Builder. Legend is reached by Synergy pushing a Hall of Fame badge one tier higher, so the Hall of Fame row is the last attribute gate. Whether Cap Breakers can lift an attribute across a tier gate is not stated by 2K and is on the in-game check list.
The badge list, the systems around it and the Takeover descriptions are from 2K: the Builder feature page, the Gameplay Courtside Report and the Season 1 Courtside Report on nba.2k.com, each dated to the day we read it. The tier thresholds and Takeover unlock ratings are not published by 2K; ours were compiled from published community datasets, cross-checked against 2K’s pages and edited by PlayTheory on 2 September 2026. A Builder screenshot pass to confirm every row is in progress; until a row carries a Builder date, treat it as compiled rather than read.
