Rockstar has dated the next look at Grand Theft Auto VI. An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, 27 August at 3 p.m. ET (8 p.m. UK), then lands on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET (2 a.m. UK, 28 August). The announcement came today, 6 August, the exact date one insider had named for Trailer 3. What arrived was a date, not footage, and Rockstar is not calling it a trailer.

What Rockstar actually announced

Two windows, one piece of footage. Netflix gets An Extended Look first, at netflix.com/GTAVI, from 3 p.m. ET on 27 August. Six hours later it goes where Rockstar reveals usually live: the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI site, at 9 p.m. ET. That makes Netflix the exclusive front door for an entire evening, a first for a Rockstar reveal, though not a first for the partnership; the GTA trilogy has lived on Netflix Games since December 2023. And Rockstar means it: even the Remind Me button on the GTA VI site points at the Netflix page.

The name matters too. Rockstar says “An Extended Look”, not “Trailer 3”. Whether this is the third trailer by another name or something longer and stranger is not stated, and we are not guessing. Rockstar has said nothing about contents or length, and the “six hours long” figure circulating is a misreading: six hours is the gap between the Netflix premiere and the YouTube release, not a runtime.

The timing writes its own subtext: 27 August is 84 days before the 19 November launch, and the reveal lands as a television-scale event on the world’s biggest streaming service. This is what marketing a game expected to be entertainment’s biggest launch looks like.

The ledger, settled in public

We logged the 6 August Trailer 3 claim as Unverified on the GTA VI hub: a single source, no corroboration. Scored honestly, the insider was half right. The date produced news, but the news was an announcement of footage three weeks out, not the footage itself, and not under the trailer name. The Rumour Ledger gets this entry updated today, and the hub’s timeline and FAQ now carry the 27 August date.

What happens next

A short teaser announcing the premiere and a piece of new artwork arrived with the date, and both go into the gallery, sourced and dated, alongside the Extended Look itself the hour it exists. Beyond that, nothing to do but wait properly: the hub countdown now points at two dates, and every claim about what the footage shows stays labelled until Rockstar shows it.

21 days to the Extended Look. 105 days to Vice City.

Confirmed against Rockstar’s own announcement, 6 August 2026.
