GTA 6 pre-load and launch timing: 12 November pre-load, 19 November launch

Two dates matter and both come from Rockstar. This page states them, says what Rockstar has not said, and explains the countdown on our hub.

The launch date

19 November 2026. Rockstar set it on 6 November 2025 and reaffirmed it in its 26 August 2026 statement on the gameplay leaks, which described the game as nearly there. It was set for 26 May 2026 and moved to 19 November 2026, which is why our Rumour Ledger holds the date as Confirmed as a statement and Possible as an outcome until launch: Rockstar has moved this date before, and says so itself.

The pre-load date

12 November 2026. Rockstar’s Newswire post of 24 June 2026 says digital pre-orders will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12. The physical edition, which is a download code in a box, is also available from 12 November so that physical buyers can pre-load too. The pre-load date has not changed since it was published; we re-verify it against Rockstar Support weekly.

What Rockstar has not said

No unlock time. Rockstar has not published a global unlock clock or regional times for 19 November, and nothing we have seen from Rockstar names midnight anywhere. The countdown on our GTA VI hub and homepage runs to midnight Eastern on 19 November because a countdown needs a moment to count to; treat it as our placeholder, not Rockstar’s schedule. When Rockstar publishes times, the countdown and this page change the same day.

What to have ready

A pre-order on the platform you will play on, storage for the download, and, if you bought the physical edition, the code redeemed by 12 November so the pre-load can start. Both editions include a month of GTA+ that auto-renews unless cancelled; details on the editions page.

The Extended Look, for context

Rockstar’s most recent showing was An Extended Look, premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 with a six-hour exclusive window before YouTube and the GTA VI site. Rockstar’s own term is An Extended Look, not a trailer; Take-Two’s CEO called it an extended trailer in an interview, so the honest line is that Rockstar has not said trailer and Strauss Zelnick has.
