The Rumour Ledger · Edition 15 · October 17 to 23, 2026

Sensor Tower estimates 6.45 million GTA 6 pre-orders, an anonymous leaker claims Rockstar approached Daft Punk with an unlimited budget, and the October 22 reveal some outlets predicted did not happen. Four claims moved, 27 days before the November 19 launch.

How to read this

Every claim in the ledger carries one of five evidence states. Confirmed is first-party only, the publisher on the record. Likely is strong secondary sourcing with a track record behind it. Possible is a plausible claim with no developer confirmation. Unverified is tracked for significance rather than credibility. Debunked is struck through and kept, because we do not delete our mistakes or anyone else’s. Use the filters to sort by evidence state.

The ledger

Four claims moved this week. Everything else holds, listed below.

PRE-ORDER FIGURE

GTA 6 has pre-sold an estimated 6.45 million copies, worth about $630 million, according to Sensor Tower. Re-scoped, holds at Likely. Sensor Tower’s estimate, as of October 20, splits the total into about 4.8 million copies on PlayStation 5 and 1.66 million on Xbox Series X|S. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has published a figure. The only earlier number on this claim, the estimate of about $180 million in week-one digital pre-orders logged in Edition 1, measured something different, so the two do not form a trend. Piper Sandler’s separate projection, that the game might sell more than 45 million copies by launch, is a forecast rather than pre-order data. Moves on: Take-Two publishing a figure; its next results are due on November 9, 2026.

DAFT PUNK SCORE

Rockstar approached Daft Punk with an “unlimited budget” to score GTA 6. New, enters Unverified. The claim was posted on X on October 20 by the leak account @hasitleaked and spread through repost accounts. It describes an approach only, to a duo that split in February 2021, and neither Rockstar nor Daft Punk has commented. Rockstar’s October 15 Launch Trailer post names Justice as “composers of the original score” of GTA 6. The claim does not conflict with that credit, which is why it sits at Unverified rather than Debunked. Moves on: Rockstar or either artist commenting on the record, or the credits on the official score album Rockstar has promised.

OCTOBER 22 SHOWCASE

Rockstar would show something new for GTA 6 on October 22. New, enters Debunked. The prediction had no source. Game Rant reasoned on October 20 that because the Launch Trailer arrived on Thursday, October 15, the following Thursday would bring something new. October 22 brought the GTA Online weekly reset, and by publication on October 23 no GTA 6 reveal had appeared. If Rockstar announces a showcase, it enters as a new claim.

GTA ONLINE WEEKLY

From October 22 to 28, completing all 10 waves of any Survival earns the Gray Space Interloper Outfit and GTA$150,000, on top of 3x GTA$ and RP on Halloween Survivals. Rolling, holds at Confirmed. Rockstar posted the week on X on October 22: the White and Red Tech Demon Mask is free, and Ghosts Exposed and Jack O’Lanterns pay 2x GTA$, 4x for GTA+ members. Its October 1 Newswire post keeps 3x on the Slasher modes and 2x on Dispatch Work, Bail Office targets and UFO Business Battles running all month, and adds GTA$2,000,000 for completing every Weekly Challenge through November 4. On October 23 Rockstar added new Halloween creations to the Community Mission Series at 3x GTA$ and RP. Moves on: the next weekly reset, October 29.

The PlayTheory take

No first-party statement moved a GTA 6 claim this week. The three new entries came from an analytics firm’s estimate, an anonymous leak and a prediction drawn from the day of the week. The dated calendar is unchanged: Take-Two reports its fiscal second quarter on November 9, preload opens on November 12 and the game launches on November 19. The November 9 results are the next chance for a first-party pre-order figure.
